Blue Economy, new technologies and funding opportunities, focus of the 1st Business Forum

The first BLUE DEAL Business Forum, the e-Blue Agora, ended with more than 520 attendees from 18 different countries

Last week the first Business Forum of the European project BLUE DEAL was held within the framework of Circle the Med, the Mediterranean Online Forum 2020 focused on circular economy.
 
The Business Forum has been organized aiming to transfer BLUE DEAL knowledge and tools to private stakeholders, startups, SMEs and policy makers fostering their interaction and creating opportunities for collaboration.
 
During the first session, the BLUE DEAL Project Coordinator, Prof. Simone Bastianoni, highlighted the main objectives of the project as well as results obtained during the first year of the project. In particular, activities implemented during the first two BLUE DEAL Transferring Labs and the importance of the citizens' involvement during the participatory processes. Christoforos Perakis, from Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving - CRES, introduced the BLUE DEAL Transfer Protocol foreseen for the involvement of the SMEs. Costas Karamanis (PRAXI Network), presented the Enterprise Europe Network, the world's largest support network for SME’s with international ambitions, and how could them assist enterprises acting in the Blue Energy sector; also Costas conveyed the intention of his entity in “collaborate to contributing on the succesfull project with our services”.
 
The second session of the forum was devoted entirely to 11 companies from Italy (Wave for Energy Srl., Tecnomac Srl., KUMA Energy Srl.), Greece (FEAC Engineering P.C., KiNNO Consultants - InnoEnergy HUB Greece-Cyprus) Spain (TYPSA, Rover Maritime, Rotary Wave), Cyprus (SignalGeneriX, SWEL-Sea Wave Energy Ltd.) and Israel (Eco Wave Power), currently working in the field of marine renewable energies. Throughout the session they presented their business, and different technologies and devices that they are developing. In addition, attendees could request B2B meetings in order to obtain more information about these companies and reach possible synergies.
 
For the last session, Thanasis Koukounaris (Dynamic Vision), Vaya Piteli (PRAXI Network), Darko Fercej (E-Zavod), Valentina Rosini (SVIM-Svuluppo Marche Srl.) and Andrea Rosini (ILMA Srl.) focused on highlighting the different sources of financing available to SMEs in Blue Energy, opportunities in Horizon 2020, crowdfunding opportunities and funding projects through voucher schemes.
 
During the whole event, more than 520 people from 18 countries were connected and didn’t miss the opportunity to actively participate by asking questions to the speakers through the chat.
 
This event was co-organized by the Interreg MED BLUE DEAL Modular Project and the BLUE GROWTH Horizontal Project. 

 
BLUE DEAL is a European project made up of 13 partners from 7 Mediterranean countries and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Instrument for the Pre-accession Assistance Fund, with a budget of 2.8 million euros.
